The main project for my co-op at Homeadow Song Farm - an urban homestead in Cincinnati, Ohio. The artmaking there often revolves around food and social practice, which lead to the tamale cart - meant for taking homegrown and homecooked foods to market. Many artists have worked on the cart over the years, so my task was to build off of their work and add a new sense of flair. I was inspired by new-school tattoo techniques and focused on revising the shape, color, and complexity of the beans, as well as making sure all the shapes popped.
Though building off of other artists' work is interactive in its own right, the grand finale for this work was to take it throughout the community and deliver free tamales to people in the neighborhood.
